OUTCOMES
Through the auspices of the UN (including the UNEP, UNESCO, UNCSD and other bodies: to develop and put into practice new educational and health programs for different national, social and age groups based on the new scientific and intellectual paradigm facilitated by outstanding world leaders and key humanist individuals.
To ask governments to support our concerns and ideas and to establish appropriate state institutes, to initiate programmes aimed at focusing on scientific activities as a matter of urgency on:
- New ways of thinking about our place on Earth and the ways in which we relate to the functioning of natural systems if we are to find a better way to live in harmony with nature.
- Formulating new ways in industry and agriculture, making a possible a sustainable world.
- Establishing international and domestic scientific co-operation.
A key tool in bringing Global Citizens For Peace to the world will be current information technologies. The age of information has led to a globally interdependent world. Global communications networks will link organisations and projects world-wide for "on-site" contributions making essential personnel available for "live" communication. These links will demonstrate global technology assisting in solving the affairs of peace and ecology.
All men, women and children will be asked to become involved in Global Citizens For Peace via television, radio, networking and print media. Children are the key to the future. They must be reached in order that they may seek a positive, optimistic and creative future. The Commercial Sector, has a strong role to play through participation and sponsorship.
THE COMMISSION FOR PEACE
There is an urgent need to create a commission for Peace
Conservative historian Max Boot is a Senior Fellow in National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. endorses Dept. of Peace

Quote
An urgent priority is to create a Department of Peace to match the capabilities of our Department of War (a.k.a. the Department of Defense). We've gotten very good at conventional military operations, such as the invasion of Iraq in 2003, but we're very weak when it comes to rebuilding war-torn societies. Admittedly this is a difficult job for anyone, but we make it all the harder because of a lack of institutional capacity. Neither the Pentagon nor the State Department nor the U.S. Agency for International Development is really geared up for this important assignment. The result is that much of the burden is unfairly placed on our men and women in uniform.
Universal goal for a Department of Peace should be preventative.
It was then pointed out that an adequately resourced department would be needed in order to deal with both domestic and national issues particularly domestic violence. A department of peace would need to cooperate collaborate and communicate with other governmental departments. The reason for this department particularly the well being of society has to be looked after when decision making is being made.
We can survey candidates on this issue, and look for a ground swell of support because we know that one in 10 Australians protested in peace marchers against Iraq, and also people feel in a vacuum
COMMISION FOR PEACE HIGHLIGHTS
1) Currently, no other Government department looks at the root causes of violence or provides the Government with counsel
- There is an Urgent Need for a Department of Peace:
- International violence - Nuclear proliferation creates critical need for the interruption of current cycles of violence;
- Nuclear arsenals are susceptible to terrorist attack/theft.
- Domestic violence - Criminal and domestic violence places intense financial pressure on Federal and state government budgets. Dept of Peace Addresses Causal Issues
- Need proactive approaches to violence reduction
- Traditional political problem-solving focuses primarily on addressing symptoms of violence, such as imprisonment of offenders and engagement in armed conflict
- Suppression of symptoms should be augmented by stronger preventative measures and treatment of root causes of violence
- Australia should be as effective in addressing the sources of violence as we are effective in addressing its symptoms
2) We Need a Dept. of Peace ...
- To reduce domestic and international violence
- To teach violence prevention and mediation in Australia's schools
- To effectively treat and dismantle gang psychology
- To rehabilitate the prison population
- To build peace-making efforts among conflicting cultures here and abroad
- To support our military with complementary approaches to ending violence
3) Proposed Federal Legislation to Establish a U.S. Department of Peace
Bill was reintroduced into the House of Representatives (H.R. 3760) and introduced into the U.S. Senate (S. 1756) There are currently 60 committed co-sponsors in the House of Representatives. Proposed legislation calls for the Department's budget to be the equivalent of 2% of U.S. defense budget. The primary function of a United States Department of Peace will be to research, articulate and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict.
4) The Department of Peace will:
Develop field-tested educational programs promoting conflict-resolution and peer mediation among school-age children; Provide violence-prevention programs addressing domestic violence, gang violence, drug and alcohol-related violence Provide much-needed assistance for the efforts of Federal, and state governments in coordinating existing programs in their own communities, as well as programs newly developed and provided by the Dept. of Peace.
HEALTH - The essence of healing is non violence
Empower the community to participate in the solutions to the world health crisis and social and environmental deprivation. The more stress we place on ourselves the more we violate our system. Early lack of love and inadequate parental upbringing contributes to delinquency and chronic illness. The major cause of illness and ill health on the planet is our thoughts.
We need to address domestic violence, including spousal abuse, child abuse, and mistreatment of the elderly and community violence within this context
With respect to de-escalation of unarmed and armed international conflict; this also falls under the category of conflict resolution and healing where the initial response needs be the creation of rapport and understanding and seeking for common goals and agreenmwebyts rather than allopathic reactive armed conflict.
We need an integrated health system which is based on communication between all specialties of doctors, as well as other health professionals, with the prime aim of giving members of public the opportunity to heal themselves by using the latest understanding of Medicine of light, body-mind medicine, psycho - neuron - immunology, nutritional, environmental and preventive medicine as well as accessing the very best of complimentary medicine.' (Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace) said 'The highest wisdom has but one science - the science of the whole - the science explaining the whole creation and man's place in it. Thomas Kuhn introduced the idea that science functions under the control of a paradigm. For centuries science has been guided by a paradigm based on the intellectual achievements of Newton and Descartes, who saw the world mechanistically and reductively, with its division of inside and outside, subject and object.
This has been overturned by the work of Einstein and his theory of relativity, the atomic physicists and others who have discovered laws that don't fit the old paradigm. The new paradigm which is emerging takes into account the observer as well as the thing observed, and the fact that the two cannot be separated. There cannot be objective knowledge without a knowing subject: what we see must be relative to and influenced by where we are and who we are.
Our health system worldwide is in crisis. This crisis is exacerbated by the costs and profits generated by the pharmaceutical industry. The combined worth of the worlds top five drug companies, is twice the combined GMP of all Sub Sahara Africa and their influence on World Trade is extremely powerful because they bring their wealth directly on the levers of Western power (The Governments).
Chronic diseases represent a huge proportion of human illness. They include cardiovascular disease (30% of projected total worldwide deaths in 2005), cancer (13%), chronic respiratory diseases (7%), and diabetes (2%). Two risk factors underlying these conditions are key to any population-wide strategy of control-tobacco use and obesity. These risks and the diseases they engender are not the exclusive preserve of rich nations. Chronic diseases are a larger problem in low-income settings The evidence shows that it is critical to intervene early in the epidemic's course. Now is the time to act to prevent the needless deaths of millions. (Lancet)
It is no wonder that the health system is in crisis when the whole essence of health care is based on the use of allopathic drugs. The pharmaceutical industry exists and feeds on illness. Without illness it cannot grow because it cannot create new drugs to band-aid the illness. Yet it is known that iatrogenic illness or illness caused by drugs or technological intervention is such that the treatment of illness is now the fourth commonest cause of death in Western Society. (Journal of the American Medical Association).
This information is a follow up of the Institute of Medicine report which hit the papers in December of 1999, but the data was hard to reference as it was not in peer-reviewed journal. It was then published in JAMA July 26, 2000;284(4):483-5 which is the most Widely circulated medical journal in the world.
It said that Doctors are the third leading cause Of death in the US causing at least 225,000 deaths per year, this constitutes the third leading cause of death in the US, following heart disease and cancer. deaths Every year. 4% and 18% of consecutive patients experience negative effects in outpatient settings. 225,000 deaths a year averages out to nearly 750 deaths a day, every day In Australia Sixteen per cent of patients who enter hospital either die or come out worse than when they went in. (Medical Journal of Australia 1995)
The health system based on a band aid approach takes advantage of a global market, placed there, simply to make money at the expense of anything and anybody else
Our world faces the challenge of healing in every conceivable way- from the healing of grief, the understanding of death, the suffering of millions within the developing world, where lives are cut short, often to a couple of decades, and where one out of every three children will die from a preventable disease
Above and beyond all of this is the need to change attitudes and mind-set so that we may have healing in the broadest possible sense- healing not only of our Global society, but of our Gobal environment and our planet as they are all related and all vitally connected.
The essence of healing is non violence .The more stress we place on ourselves the more we violate our system. Early lack of love and inadequate parental upbringing contributes to delinquency and chronic illness.
The major cause of illness and ill health on the planet is our thoughts.
Surrounded by constant influx of images of wars and violence in the media our homeostatic systems break down, The Flight and fight response is chronically revved up creating excess cortisol and adrenaline leading to depression, stress, cardiovascular disease. Cancer, cholesterol, diabetes and the inability to assimilate food correctly. The cultivation of non violence to our minds and bodies needs to start with the individual.
We are beings of infinite creativity, love and literally light as all atoms radiate light and we radiate light on many complex levels. Living systems are quantum systems They process, store and radiate light in forms of information
How perfect to radiate the light of non violence not only for ourselves but for others as well!!
The Pharmaceutical industry exists for and uses the old paradigm where the Human Body is a mechanical, chronological hydraulic system divided into organs and cells and DNA, We are seen as read outs of DNA, This disempowers the individual and perpetuates the hierarchy of parochialism so evident in the Medical Profession where feelings and spirituality normally have no place to play in the picture
The new science of epigenetics and neuroplasticity shows that we have much more control over our minds and bodies than ever was dreamed of
We are the masters of our lives and the purveyors of healing for ourselves in partnership with the Medial Profession
Allopathy means attack. The Medical system attacks the disease with the use of drugs and in the process can kill the patient at the sane time
In medicine as in war as in environment we need to get away from non violence to the integral response of harmony ,balance, love and sustainability and ,holistic healing and come to see that violence is purely a throw back to times of fear and threat still imprinted in our brains but now capable of being transformed
We live in a disenfranchised world and communities with massive health problems Within this society there is tremendous emphasis on wealth and consumerism where the emphasis is on economics which is utterly unconcerned about the wellbeing of the individual . Economics is only concerned about the rationale for the accumulation of wealth no matter what the consequences for the people or environment.
In the Social Determinants of Health researched by Sir Professor Michael Marmot He found Social exclusion results from racism, discrimination, stigmatization, hostility and unemployment. People who live in or have left, institutions, such as prisons, children's homes and psychiatric hospitals are particularly vulnerable exclusion creates suffering and morbidity.
He says that the longer people live in stressful economic and social circumstances, the greater the physiological wear and tear they suffer and the less likely they are to enjoy a healthy old age. Stress harms health.
Stressful circumstances, making people feel worried, anxious and unable to cope, are damaging to health and may lead to premature death. They become more vulnerable to a wide range of conditions including infections, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, depression and aggression
Stress in the workplace increases the risk of disease Unemployed people and their families suffer a much higher risk of premature death People who have more control over their work have better health
When people feel uncared for the result is illness. Economic rationalism is an expression of how we are losing our sense of community and connection with all of life. In general there has to be a massive change in consciousness if we are to survive. Consciousness is also the key word when it comes to taking responsibility for healing one self and healing the planet.
Belonging to a social network makes people feel cared for.
Unless governance becomes more participatory and people have a real say at what they want in terms of their dreams and how they can express themselves in terms of real values and positive attitudes, our society will become run by a bureaucratic elite and watched over by a very wealthy minority.
Above and beyond all of this is the need to change attitudes and mind-set so that we may have healing in the broadest possible sense- healing not only of our Australian society, but of our Australian environment and our planet as they are all related and all vitally connected
The Ten Social Determinants of Health are:
Social and economic circumstances strongly affect health throughout life.
Stress harms health.
The effects of early development in the neo-natal period and infancy last a lifetime.
Social exclusion creates suffering and morbidity.
Stress in the workplace increases the risk of disease
Job security increases health, well-being and job satisfaction. Unemployment is deleterious to health.
Social support, friendship, good social relations and strong supportive networks improve health at home, work and in the community.
Addiction to drugs and alcohol is influenced by social determinants.
Nutrition is a key determinant of health.
Transport through the use of walking and exercise in a sustainable environment enhances health.
EDUCATION
On social, environmental and health fronts, we are confronting a critical transsition. We are facing the results of an epistomology which focuses on material and rational values, human supremacy and competition for domination. Will this transition be into chaos and destruction or will it be into a new paradigm based on spiritual, ecological connectedness and cooperation?
Global Citizens For Peace aims:
- To create new ways of thinking and behaaving which will eliminate the threat or use of violence as an instrument of policy in relations between people and in the exploiration of the environment for short term gain;
- Through this education process, to create unity and hamony where there is fragmentation and disharmony, and serve as a catalyst working group for other like-minded institutiuons and individuals; and
- It will enhance the community's work towards peace and health within the social and material environment.
- To enable every Australian to have the opportunity of living to an old age with vigour and optimization of health.
Global Citizens For Peace is an organisation pioneering innovative education for the community and also carries out research and exchang of ideas by promoting new ways of thinking through communication and networking. Its members will receive regular publications and seminar discounts. It will encourage members to join working groups, projects, community activities and festivals.
As part of its educational programme it will ask each member to formulate a programme to save the Earth for future generations, which will then be edited and compiled into a presentation for the community at large to enable individual members to make contact on a global basis with others involved in the diverse aspects of global healing, particularly as regards to a renaissance in human values and human rights.
It will enhance individual members opportunity to work creatively within their work situation and facilitate cooperative exchange of innovative knowledge between themselves and the organisations for which they work.
Global Citizens For Peace aims to create a data bank of publications and audio-visual materials which can be used in schools and universities. The Centre creates a repository of information in the different areas about ideas and processes for global change.The Centre promotes educational development of the community by weekly workshopsss, seminars and ongoing classes on Human values, life style change, revitalization, optimization of health, meditation, creativity and quantum learning.
In particular it will develop a peace education curriculum, and work with educators to equip students to become skilled in achieving peace through reflection, and facilitate instruction in the ways of peaceful conflict resolution;
It will encourage the creation of Departments of Peace in Umiversities and Schools.
It will create and establish a Peace Academy, which shall:(i) be modelled after the military service academies
It will create a Community Peace Grant program under which grants shall be provided to not-for-profit community and nongovernmental organissations for the purposes of developing creative, innovative neighbourhood programs for non-violent conflict resolution and local peace building initiatives.
All governments devote attention to, for example, debating their "defence capacities" - but there is very little attention (let alone equal attention) to debating "peace capacities". The idea for peace cadets or a peace force for Australia was suggested by Dr Stella Cornelius and Dr Keith Suter over 20 years ago in their Peace Book.
Even a Minister for Peace has to be trained in peace
Round Tables for Peace (LINK) can be fertile ground for education, mutual support and ideas.
There is a real need for Peace Corps or Cadets to be able to express an integral approach to humanity and to be trained in this approach which can be called the Art of Peace craft as they deliver goods and services to the needy and impoverished in the developing world. The 1982 publication An Australian Campaign for a Ministry of Peace, a world peace initiative book says that Non discrimination dictates that we provide for peace craft no less than we provide for the armed forces.
Ambassadors for Peace( Memebers of Global Citizens For Peace) can serve on the national, regional and global peace councils. They stand on the common ground of shared values, promoting reconciliation, overcoming barriers, and building peace.
The Educational programme of the Global Citizens For Peace will work with the The Montessori school in Lucknow India which received the UNESCO Peace Prize in 2002.
The Renaissance of Humankind -Cultural Exchange and Multiculturalism
A Planetary Culture implies science, technology, healing relationships, economics, government and education seen from the broadest perspective - not nation based, but global and holistically based, stimulating new ways of thinking to enhance our connectedness, and goes beyond isms and ideologies to recognising the sacredness of all life. It implies the creation of new art, literature and music, and the development of a life philosophy which is based on the universal principles inherent in human activity.In the act of creation, whether it be a domain shift to a higher consciousness or the formation of a new life form, there is a "reculer pour mieux sauter" - a drawing back before moving forwards. An intuitive leap which creates a new theory or a new form of art is an undefinable form of beauty.
Global Citizens For Peace will do research and analysis relating to creating, initiating, and modelling approaches to peaceful coexistence and non-violent conflict resolution.
It will study the impact of war, especially on the physical and mental condition of children and publish a monthly journal of the activities of the Office and encourage scholarly participation;
It will gather information on effective community peace building activities and disseminate such information to local governments and non-governmental organisations in Australia and abroad;
In particular it will encourage
- Cultural Exchange for Unique Cultural events including folk groups and ethnic performers
- Non-commercial musicians ,writers and artists contributing to the accelerating Global pulse of creativity
- The publication and dissemination of the works of great thinkers and talented writers expressing multicultural creativity .philosophy and wisdom
Human Rights
Global Citizens For Peace's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
Global Citizens For Peace will undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.
All persons shall be equal before the courts and tribunals. In the determination of any criminal charge against him, or of his rights and obligations in a suit of law, everyone shall be entitled to a fair and public hearing by a competent, independent and impartial tribunal established by law." Article 14.1 The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966)
Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him." Article 10 The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Global Citizens For Peace will gather information on and document human rights abuses, both domestically and internationally, and recommend to government non-violent responses to correct abuses;
It will make such findings available to other agencies in order to facilitate non-violent conflict resolution;
Research
Carries out research into and obtain research funding for developing and enhancing new technologies which are environmentally friendly, conserving energy and water and encouraging organic and innovative farming. It will elaborate and enhance the conception of eco-settlements understanding the profound connection between dwellings and the environment . It aims to contribute to the shift of focus of scientific research to sustainable related issues including the creation of renewable energy, the substitution of non-renewable natural resources by renewable ones, the development of environmentally clean technologies and transport, the utilization of consumer wastes, as well as other fundamental and applied technologies and disciplines.
This includes research and development of technologies in transportation, communications, and energy that:
(a) are non-violent in their application; and
(b) encourage the conservation and sustainability of natural resources in order to prevent future conflicts regarding scarce resources.
ARMS CONTROL
Can we change armaments to plough shares and use the vast resources of the Global Military machine for peaceful technology .Our aim is promiote a vision and create a realty of a World without Nuclear Weapons and without War
On18 January 2007 The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock two minutes closer to midnight - to 11.55 In their stated reasons They statewd that the major new step reflects growing concerns about a "Second Nuclear Age" marked by grave threats, including: nuclear ambitions in Iran and North Korea, unsecured nuclear materials in Russia and elsewhere, the continuing "launch-ready" status of 2,000 of the 25,000 nuclear weapons held by the U.S. and Russia, escalating terrorism, and new pressure from climate change for expanded civilian nuclear power that could increase proliferation risks.
Global Citizens For Peace will
(a)take part in all international negotiations regarding the reduction and elimination of weapons of mass destruction throughout the world, including the dismantling of such weapons and the safe and secure storage of materials related thereto;
(b) assist nations, international agencies and nongovernmental organisations in assessing the locations of the build-up of nuclear arms;
(c) develop non-violent strategies to deter the testing or use of offensive or defensive nuclear weapons, whether based on land, air, sea, or in outer space;
(d) serve as a depository for copies of all contracts, agreements, and treaties that deal with the reduction and elimination of nuclear weapons or the protection of outer space from militarisation; and
(e) provide technical support and legal assistance for the implementation of such agreements.
Data bank
The creation of publications and audio-visual materials which can be used in schools and universities Global Citizens For Peace's as an Institute for Research and Learning will circulate reports widely throughout the world throuh the Internet aiming to improve communication and exchanges of information on global problems amongst peoples and movements internationally and nationally.
Dialogue
The Global Citizens For Peace's aims at creating a decade of open forum and ongoing dialogue on key issues affecting the future of humankind. The group will be involved in research and will conduct regular monthly meetings including a series of seminars, workshops and discussion groups. In particular, The Centre will speak for and enhance the change in values and attitudes through an open, ongoing, informed, articulate debate and dialogue on current global problems regardless of class, race, politics or philosophy, that the truth in any situation may be discovered and understood. Governments seldom change the world - it is the people who do. We call all people of goodwill as well as organisations sharing the principles of the new intellectual paradigm to promote the importance of ethics, spiritual values and consciousness as the prerequisites of a sustainable civilisation:
The Media
We also call on the mass media as purveyors of the information which currently shape peoples consciousness, models of reality and dominant value systems through the imperative of economic
agendas - to bring to humanity a clear integrative unbiased network of information which covers the positive and uplifting aspects of human experience
We wil lmake recommendations to professional media organizations in order to provide opportunities to increase media awareness of peace-building initiatives.
Global Citizens For Peace - Interaction with commerce and industry
The Centre will bring together people from commerce and industry who are able to deliver new presentations based on new technologies which are environmentally friendly, conserve energy and water and encourage organic and innovative farming. To ask business and community groups to integrate the market to include ecologically sound production, primarily in food and medicine, placing emphasis on organic foods, sustainable agricultural practices and cellular and herbal medicines. The aim is to energize an entire global, commercial community to develop "new ways" whereby we can reverse the demise of our planet.
Global Citizens For Peace will conduct economic analyses of the scarcity of human and natural resources as a source of conflict
Global Citizens For Peace will make recommendations r for non-violent prevention of such scarcity, , and the development of programs of assistance for people experiencing such scarcity, whether due to armed conflict, mal-distribution of resources, or natural causes;
An International Peace - Environment Awards Programme
Plans are underway to inaugurate an international awards scheme for individuals, organisations and industry who have made worthwhile contributions to a sustainable future for the Planet Earth and to world peace.
We wish to establish an Australian Peace Medal equivalent to the Australian Order of Merit and bring this into the Australia Day Award yearly under the category of Peace for Australian Peace Medal for contributors to national and global peace We will also make nominations for other peace prizes.
Youth Centres and Scholarships
A charitable foundation is planned to support the development of centres of learning to bring out the finest qualities of humanness, global vision and leadership for the youth of the future. Scholarships will be endowed annually. We appeal to the young people of the world to seek unity within diversity, cohesion where there is fragmentation and resolution where there is conflict. This is based on reforming educational systems to include the new paradigm.
Global Council
To call all the World's scientists to take part in developing the intellectual basis for forming a sustainable civilisation, and for this purposeto create A Council of the 'Masters of Wisdom' - The elders and mentors of our global society who through their wisdom and open dialogue contribute to a sustainable and positive future for humanity.
"Ultimately this Earth can be saved for Humankind only if people are prepared to live with Nature rather than upon Nature. We have been taughta that this World and all plants and creatures thereon were created for man's use; that he was given dominian over all other forms of life and that he must go forth and multiply. It is now clear that if he follows that belief, his extinction is inevitable. Therefore, his whole relationship with Earth amd with Nature must change rapidly. But relationsips between individuals or between man and his environment are intellectual and of the spirit rather than of material gain or loss ..... Consciousness of that relationship must be improved rapidly by all means within our power..........Perhaps a beginning would be the sort of World Conference which you envisage, a call not only to man's intellect, his comprehension and reasoning power, but also to the driving force of his underlying spirituality, his ability to care for others, for other forms of life, for the Earth as his home and responsibility."
Sir Mark Oliphant to Dr Ellis
We feel that if these major principles and directions are instigated we may be able to prevent the global catastrophe to which we are currently headed.
